ACES 2nd Grade Teachers
Mrs. Shannon Angel
Mrs. Angel grew up in the small town of Schoolcraft, Michigan. Michigan has beautiful summers, so she grew up camping, enjoying the great lakes, and playing sports with her siblings. Her family is very close and she loves spending time with them. She has an adorable one year old daughter named Halle June. You’ll hear a lot of stories about her during writers workshop this year! Mrs. Angel went to college at Western Michigan University. Go Broncos! She moved to North Carolina in January 2007. This is her eighth school year teaching in Wake County. In her free time she enjoys going to the park with her daughter and Mr. Angel, spending time outside at the pool, and taking trips to the beach. She also love shopping, reading, cooking and exploring Raleigh.
Mrs. Lee Barton
Mrs. Barton was born right here in Raleigh, North Carolina. She attended college at East Carolina University. After graduating, she decided she liked Raleigh so much that she moved back to the area. She lives with her husband, two boys, and dog. They spend a lot of time on the baseball field and at the beach. Mrs. Barton also enjoys reading, walking, riding her bike, swimming, and hiking. She looks forward to a wonderful school year!
Mrs. Tamika Blount
Mrs. Blount is originally from Laurinburg, North Carolina. She earned her undergraduate degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She is excited to start her nineteenth year of teaching. After beginning her career as a fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Blount has spent the last fourteen years teaching second grade. She enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family. Mrs. Blount is looking forward to a wonderful school year full of new adventures at Abbottts Creek.
Ms. Catherine Hilton
Ms. Hilton is originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, and earned her undergraduate degree from Greensboro College. After graduation, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and started her career there as a first grade teacher. When not at school, she enjoys DIY home crafts, all outdoor activities, and spending time with her bulldog, Berkeley. She is so happy to be back in NC and to be a part of the ACES team!
Mrs. Carly Rifenburg
Mrs. Rifenburg is excited to start her tenth year teaching as a charter staff member of Abbotts Creek. Mrs. Rifenburg got her teaching degree from Radford University and has spent the past nine years teaching in Northern Virginia. She and her family just relocated from Loudoun County, Virginia and are excited to get settled in their new town. When Mrs. Rifenburg isn’t at school, you can find her at the gym, reading a book, or outside with her three children. Mrs. Rifenburg is looking forward to a great year at ACES!
